The Gospel of John: Behold the Lamb

In this message from John 1:19–36, we look at the powerful moment when John the Baptist points to Jesus and declares, “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
John’s Gospel was written so that people would clearly see who Jesus is and believe in Him for eternal life (John 20:31). In this passage, the focus shifts from who Jesus is in eternity to how He is revealed to the world.
John the Baptist refuses to make life about himself. Instead, he continually points people to Jesus. His testimony reminds us that life truly changes when we stop looking at ourselves and start looking at the Lamb of God.
In this sermon we see three powerful truths:
• The Lamb Reveals Who We Are Not – John understood he wasn’t the Savior; he was simply a voice pointing people to Jesus.
• The Lamb Reveals What We Need Most – Our greatest problem is sin, and Jesus is the sacrifice God provided to take it away.
• The Lamb Reveals How We Must Respond – When we truly see the Lamb, the only right response is to believe Him, trust Him, and follow Him.
The message of John the Baptist was simple but life-changing: "Behold the Lamb."
Because the Lamb of God is the only one who can take away the sin of the world.
